The flash flood watch for portions of Kansas and Missouri has been cancelled. A cold front has pushed south of the area late this afternoon. Although showers and thunderstorms will continue along and south of the Missouri river into the evening Hours, Any Heavy Rainfall will be brief, And Total Amounts will be well below that needed to produce flash flooding.

From Lisa Teachman: Here’s what we’ve encountered in southern Johnson County on the Kansas side. Some low spots on rural roads have rushing water. Most of the creeks and streams we’ve passed through have been holding the water just fine.
4pm – Heavy rain reported in Lafayette County.
3:45pm – Flash Flood Watch now in effect until 1 am Wednesday, The flash flood watch is now in effect for Portions of Kansas and Missouri, Including The Following areas, In Kansas, Johnson Ks, Leavenworth And Wyandotte. In Missouri, Caldwell, Carroll, Chariton, Clay, Clinton, jackson, Lafayette, Linn Mo, Livingston, Macon, Platte and ray.

Showers and thunderstorms will continue tonight as a cold front moves through the region. Due to the slow movement of the storms, Heavy Rainfall From one to two inches with locally higher amounts are possible. In addition, Brief But Intense periods of rainfall are also likely. The threat of heavy rainfall will diminish after daybreak on Wednesday as the front moves into northern Arkansas.
Low-lying areas, Especially Near Creeks and rivers will be most susceptible to flash flooding.
A flash flood watch means that conditions may develop that lead to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

1:50 p.m. — Car reported stranded in high water at Blue Parkway and Cleveland Avenue. Driver able to walk to higher ground.
